How this is calculated

Engagement rate here means (average likes + comments + shares per video) ÷ average views per video × 100, worked out from the account's most recent public videos rather than numbers you type in. It's views-based rather than follower-based on purpose: TikTok pushes videos to the For You page regardless of who follows an account, so a small account can easily out-view its own follower count several times over on a single video. Dividing by followers instead would send the number past 100% on exactly the accounts doing best — dividing by views keeps it meaningful whatever the follower count says.

What counts as a good rate

These are a general guide rather than an exact science — a short viral clip and a longer, niche one can both be doing well at very different rates.

Why it's worth checking before you order

A low engagement rate on a growing account usually means the content isn't landing with the people who see it — more followers or likes on top of that won't fix the underlying problem, they'll just sit alongside it. Check the rate first, then decide whether the account needs a bigger audience or better-performing content on what it already has.
