TikTok does not care much about your follower count when it decides who sees a video. Every upload is shown first to a small test batch, and what that batch does, whether they watch to the end, rewatch, like or share, decides whether it goes to the next, larger batch. That is why a 200-follower account can land a million-view video and a 50,000-follower account can post to silence. Views and likes on the video itself are the signals the For You Page reads first, and the first few hours are where they count.
Followers still matter, for two reasons. The first is what happens after a video works: people tap through to the profile, and a profile with 80 followers convinces very few of them to stay. Proportion. Views should look like a video that did modestly well, not one that broke out of nowhere. 1,000 or 2,500 views on a video with a few hundred is plausible; 10,000 views with 12 likes is not. Pairing views with a smaller likes order keeps the ratio believable.
